Montreal Marathon questions
Where should I stay for the Montreal Marathon?
Stay in the Quartier Latin around Berri-UQAM if you can: the start at Parc Jean-Drapeau is one stop away on the yellow metro line, and the green line runs from there to the finish. Old Montreal and the Plateau are also good bases and both are on the course, so supporters can watch near the hotel.
Is it better to stay near the start or the finish?
The start is in a park on an island in the river, so stay near the metro instead. Berri-UQAM is one stop from the start, and Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, by Pie-IX and Viau stations, is a short walk from the finish at Parc Maisonneuve.
How do I get to the start of the Montreal Marathon?
Take the yellow metro line to Jean-Drapeau station, next to the start at Espace 67 on Île Sainte-Hélène, and buy your fares in advance. Car access is very limited. In 2026 the organizers asked runners to arrive at least 1 hour 15 minutes before their start time.
Where can supporters watch the Montreal Marathon?
In 2026 the course passed rue Notre-Dame in Old Montreal (Champ-de-Mars metro), Parc La Fontaine (Sherbrooke metro) and Parc Jarry on boulevard Saint-Laurent (about 10 minutes on foot from De Castelnau metro), where runners pass in both directions. The City of Montreal listed 21 cheer stations along the 2026 course.
Where do I pick up my bib?
Only at the Expo-Marathon at the Palais des congrès de Montréal (Place-d'Armes metro) in the days before the race, as there is no bib pickup on race morning. In 2026 it ran from Thursday to Saturday; bring ID and the QR code from your registration email, or send a friend with a signed authorization letter.
Is there a half marathon on the same weekend?
Yes. The half marathon is on Sunday 19 September 2027 with the marathon, starting at Espace 67 and finishing at Parc Maisonneuve. The 10 km, 5 km and 1 km races are on Saturday 18 September and the Mile is on Friday 17 September.
How many nights should I book for the Montreal Marathon?
We suggest 3 nights, Fri 17 Sept to Mon 20 Sept: time to settle in before the race and a night of rest after it. Book with free cancellation so you can change your plans.
